The
Site - Las Dunas De Cope is a small development of new
townhouses and apartments just outside the very Spanish town of Aguilas,
in the Murcia region. The house has one of the best locations on the
site, overlooking a large swimming pool and with another just off to
the right. These communal pools are for the exclusive use of residents
and their guests, giving you an ideal place to relax. Just 2-3 minutes
walk from the house, and right next to another good sized swimming pool,
the site has a reception, bar and restaurant area. Run by friendly British
and Spanish staff, the bar is a great place to meet other holidaymakers
and residents, drop in for an ice cream, drink or meal, or get some
advice on local areas of interest or the best restaurants in the local
area. The owners also provide a taxi service to take you into the local
towns if you feel like taking a break from driving. There are 4 well-maintained
tennis courts on site, and a nine-hole mini-golf course is close to
completion just 1 minute’s walk from the house. |

The
Area - Aguilas, which means ‘eagles’ in
Spanish, is a fishing and leisure port midway between Murcia and Almeria
airports. As yet undiscovered by major tour companies and the vast majority
of northern Europeans, it is a popular holiday destination for Spaniards
and for this reason it has maintained its unique Spanish character.
Overlooked by the Moorish castle of San Juan De Las Aguilas, and built
on three sweeping bays, the town has a population of around 30,000.
It has a rich history and hosts a calendar of events and fiestas, starting
with a spectacular Spring carnival in February. The coastline features
28 kms of long sandy beaches, rocky and sandy coves, and dramatic rock
cliffs. Even in the height of summer you should not find it difficult
to find an uncrowded spot for some swimming or sunbathing. Aguilas offers
many excellent bars, cafés and restaurants that are open all
year round, and which provide traditional Spanish food, as well as international
cuisine from China, France, Italy and Argentina amongst others. There
is a regular market every Saturday, and frequent craft fairs throughout
the year. |

Outdoor
pursuits on land and sea are well catered for, with the area being particularly
noted for it’s scuba diving. Walking is a popular pastime along
the protected coast and in the mountains ranging behind the town. You
can also take a quad bike ‘safari’! The mountains form a protective barrier around Aguilas creating a microclimate, which sees the area have an average year-round temperature of 25 degrees c. Summers are long and hot, reaching over 30 degrees c, with more than 10 hours of sunshine a day. Winters are mild, with typical temperatures of 15-18 c during the day, and a good deal of sunshine. Rain is rare, even during the winter. |
